When I first started listening to this, it conjured thoughts of J Dilla, The Philadelphia and Detroit Projects, Erykah Badu, and the Soulquarians. Sure enough Badu and Dilla both get shoutouts in the video and I wouldn’t be surprised to find former members of Slum Village involved in the production. If you like this kind of music, be sure to checkout the Platinum Pied Pipers (PPP) who rock this style to the fullest.
